Coaching is a one-on-one relationship between a coach and a client
that is focused on supporting and empowering you to move forward in a
specific area of your life. In this instance, the goal will be to help
you find resolution with a damaged or estranged relationship.
In the coaching relationship, you set the agenda and I serve as an
objective sounding board. My job is to keep you focused and on track.
Coaching is about breaking through old barriers, noticing where your
breakdowns occur, and helping you develop new practices and behaviors
that enable you to reach your desired outcome. Coaching is an action-oriented
process that is aimed at getting results.
Although coaching and therapy can complement each other, coaching
is not therapy. Coaching is about developing strategic actions that
will help you move forward. Coaching does not attempt to explain behaviors,
delve into your past, or identify pathology. The focus is on enhancing
your competence and personal development.
People who make the commitment to the coaching process all have something
in common. You know that you want to move forward in healing your
relationships, but are not quite able to make it happen on your own. You
may be feeling stuck. You realize that you need someone to help you look
at your situation from different angles and point out where you may be
getting hung up. Gaining new perspectives on a problem enables you to
become more creative and effective in your search for a solution.
Using a coach means that you are committed to living your life to
the fullest. You are willing to take some risks and try new things.
You have a sense of what you really are capable of, but recognize that
some extra support, nurturing and encouragement will help you step fully
into your potential.
In reality, coaching clients are very much like everyone else, except
that by hiring a coach you have made the commitment to move your life-and
your process of reconciliation--forward.
Coaching is done over the phone, once a week in 30-60 minute sessions.
Our weekly calls will focus on what's "up" for you that week.
We will examine any pressing issues that have emerged. We will look at
any breakdowns you may have experienced during the week. We will discuss
what happened and how you resolved the breakdown, or what is needed to
help you resolve the breakdown. We will also look at where you were successful
and celebrate your achievements.
As your coach, I am truly committed to supporting you as you work
to achieve your goals. I may assign homework between sessions. This
might be in the form of a writing exercise, a self-observation, a book
to read, a behavior to change or watch out for, or a practice to begin.
The purpose of the homework is to provide additional perspectives and
opportunities to practice new approaches to communication, conflict, and
self-care. As our coaching relationship continues, you will become more
creative in your problem-solving and achieve a greater sense of resolution
in your relationships.
If you are interested in personal coaching, send me an email: LauraDavis@LauraDavis.net
and include:
* What you want to work on
* Where you're feeling stuck
* What you hope to achieve
If you're not entirely clear in your answers, don't worry. Just do the
best you can. If I have space available, I will get back to you to arrange
an initial phone consultation, during which we will each determine whether
we are a good fit.
The cost for coaching is $75.00 per half hour.
I am sometimes available for one-time sessions on an as-needed basis.
